Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 5th district since 2005, has recently taken to social media to voice criticism of the Trump administration and advocate for government transparency.
On September 2, 2025, Cleaver posted: "While American families are struggling with the rising cost of housing, healthcare, and groceries due to the president’s tariff taxes, the Trump family is reaping billions from their corrupt crypto schemes."
The following day, on September 3, Cleaver commented on efforts to release documents related to Jeffrey Epstein: "While the Trump administration tries to block the release of the Epstein Files, I signed @RepThomasMassie’s discharge petition to help bring transparency to the American people. Americans deserve the truth."
Later that same day, he expressed skepticism regarding a proposed tax plan: “‘Working families tax plan’ Sure...”
Cleaver has been active in Congress for nearly two decades after succeeding Karen McCarthy in 2005. Born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and currently residing in Kansas City at age 78, Cleaver graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
