Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 5th district since 2005, posted a series of statements on August 11, 2025, highlighting legislative efforts to improve healthcare access in rural communities and commenting on staffing changes at the National Weather Service.

On August 11, 2025, Cleaver announced bipartisan legislation aimed at expanding community paramedicine services: "Our bill would help expand the practice of Community Paramedicine in rural communities across the country, bringing quality healthcare to families who lack access locally. In another post from the same day, Cleaver emphasized ongoing challenges for rural residents seeking medical care: "Rural communities are struggling to access quality healthcare that is both affordable and convenient, with far too many Americans having to travel long distances to get the care they need. That’s why I introduced the bipartisan Community Paramedicine Act with @RepHarshbarger. https://t.co/JC1pJw6lxZ".

Later that evening, Cleaver commented on recent developments involving federal employees: "The National Weather Service plays a pivotal role in protecting our communities by relaying information on extreme weather events. While they never should have been fired, I’m pleased the administration is bringing these public servants back to work.

He was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and currently resides in Kansas City.

Cleaver holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View A&M University.
