Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 5th district since 2005, recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing federal promises, vaccine policy, and local infrastructure initiatives.
On August 4, 2025, Cleaver expressed skepticism regarding federal commitments with the statement: "Another promise to the American people that will go unfulfilled."
The following day, August 5, he addressed public health concerns during National Immunization Month by stating: "Vaccines save lives. This National Immunization Month, I’m committed to keeping our communities healthy by fighting against the Trump administration’s cuts to vaccine research and protecting coverage for critical vaccines."
Later on August 5, Cleaver highlighted a major local development project in Grandview: "After securing $4.6M in federal funding to support this effort, I was happy to join local lawmakers from @CityOfGrandview to break ground on the largest infrastructure project in city history, which will improve traffic safety and boost economic development for families and small"
Cleaver has represented Missouri's 5th District since succeeding Karen McCarthy in 2005. Born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and currently residing in Kansas City, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View A&M University.
