Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 5th district since 2005, recently posted several messages on social media addressing both international and domestic policy issues.
On August 1, 2025, Cleaver called for urgent action from the Trump administration regarding the ongoing crisis in Gaza. He stated: "As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens, it’s imperative that Secretary Rubio and the Trump administration do more to ensure life-saving supplies are getting to civilians.
That’s why I joined @RepCasten in urging an immediate investigation into GHF and more aid for those in https://t.co/KAPZk966y3" (August 1, 2025).
Later that day, Cleaver criticized recent legislative actions by Congressional Republicans concerning healthcare and food assistance. He wrote: "Instead of working to lower costs on housing, healthcare, and groceries, Republicans in Congress just passed a bill that rips healthcare away from 16 million Americans and food assistance away from millions more—all to fund more tax breaks for the wealthy.

Cleaver also addressed economic concerns related to tariffs impacting consumer prices. In his third post of the day he stated: "A growing number of consumer goods companies are resorting to price hikes as they grapple with increased costs associated with tariffs.”
And the tariffs aren’t even in full effect yet.
