Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 5th district since 2005, shared his views on several pressing issues through a series of tweets on July 8, 2025.

In a tweet posted at 17:21 UTC, Rep. Cleaver expressed approval of the president's decision to reverse an earlier halt in support for Ukrainian freedom fighters. He stated, "After global backlash to the shortsighted decision to halt support for Ukrainian freedom fighters, I’m pleased the president has immediately reversed course and will continue to provide aid to Ukraine." He emphasized the importance of supporting democratic allies against Russian aggression.

Later that day, at 18:20 UTC, Cleaver addressed energy policy concerns. He criticized Republican actions in relation to clean energy investments, stating, "In 2025, solar and wind are an integral part of America’s energy system." He accused Republicans of ensuring higher energy costs and more blackouts by reducing investments in clean energy as part of what he referred to as the "Big Ugly Bill."

At 19:01 UTC, Cleaver turned his attention to education funding. He criticized recent legislative moves by Republicans that would reduce Pell grants for working-class students while providing tax breaks for wealthy individuals. Additionally, he accused the Trump administration of illegally withholding funds from public schools.

Emanuel Cleaver was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and resides in Kansas City. A graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a BS degree earned in 1972, he has been actively involved in political service since succeeding Karen McCarthy.
