Emanuel Cleaver, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri's 5th district since 2005, has voiced his concerns regarding current political and economic issues through social media. Born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and residing in Kansas City, Cleaver is known for his critical stance on policies he believes are detrimental to American families.

On July 2, 2025, Cleaver addressed the impact of President Trump's economic policies on Twitter. He stated that "President Trump’s tariff taxes, federal funding freeze, and general recklessness are already slowing our economy—and workers are paying the price for his chaos." He warned about potential increases in healthcare, energy, and grocery costs as a result of the Republicans' proposed legislation.

The following day, on July 3, 2025, Cleaver tweeted about Representative Jeffries' efforts to oppose the bill. According to Cleaver's tweet at 13:46 UTC, ".@RepJeffries has been speaking for over 4 hours as we continue the fight to #KillTheBill that would rip healthcare away from 17 million Americans." He emphasized that this legislation could lead to significant cuts in food assistance and increase national debt while benefiting billionaires with tax breaks.

Later on July 3rd at 14:22 UTC, Cleaver criticized what he referred to as "Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill," labeling it as potentially the most expensive bill ever passed. He claimed it would add trillions to national debt without reducing costs for essential services like healthcare or housing. Instead, he asserted it provided substantial tax breaks to wealthy individuals while threatening healthcare access for millions.

Cleaver holds a BS from Prairie View A&M University obtained in 1972. Throughout his career, he has consistently focused on issues affecting working-class families and expressed concern over policies that may exacerbate inequality.
