Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, representing Missouri’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, has expressed his concerns over various issues via Twitter. Cleaver, who has been serving in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Karen McCarthy, used the platform to address the housing affordability crisis and economic management by the current administration. Throughout the statements, he outlines specific policies and actions he and a fellow congressman are considering to mitigate these challenges.
On April 7, 2025, Cleaver posted that "As America faces a housing affordability crisis, @USRepMikeFlood and I want to hear from housing stakeholders about ways in which Congress can revamp federal housing programs to help lower costs and expand access to affordable housing for hardworking families."
Following this, he tweeted a resource for more information, stating "Find more information on our work here:https://t.co/YiCV9B9aAb" on the same day.
Later, on April 7, 2025, Cleaver criticized the president’s focus amid economic struggles faced by families in Missouri. He tweeted, "While Missourians’ retirement portfolios continue to plummet, the president is focused on golf. Completely out of touch and deeply disrespectful to families that are hurting due to his incompetent economic policy."
