Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri's 5th district since 2005, expressed concerns on March 18, 2025, through a series of tweets regarding recent actions by President Trump and congressional Republicans. His statements focused on issues related to school nutrition programs, civil rights, and national security.

In his first tweet on March 18, Cleaver criticized the administration for its impact on school nutrition programs. He stated that "Because president Trump and congressional Republicans are allowing the richest man in the world to recklessly gut school nutrition programs, more Missouri kids will go hungry and more Missouri farmers will struggle to sell their products."

Later that day, Cleaver addressed changes in civil rights policies under the Trump Administration. He joined other Democrats in opposition to these measures, tweeting: "As the Trump Admin works to turn back the clock on civil rights, including fair housing laws, I joined @RepMaxineWaters, @SenWarren, and 100+ Democrats to demand an end to the illegal cuts being made at HUD that will exacerbate discrimination in housing."

Cleaver also voiced his concerns about national security implications due to administrative decisions involving Elon Musk. He tweeted: "With the permission of President Trump and congressional Republicans, Elon Musk is gutting departments that play a critical role in our national security, including those who oversee our nuclear stockpile. It’s beyond dangerous."
