Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, representing Missouri’s 5th district since 2005, recently expressed his concerns on social media regarding the actions of elected leaders and their impact on American citizens. Cleaver, who has been a member of Congress for nearly two decades, took to Twitter to address various issues ranging from rising costs to government agendas.

On January 27, 2025, Rep. Cleaver tweeted about the desires of the American people for leadership that actively reduces costs: "The American people want elected leaders to take actions that will LOWER costs, not throw temper tantrums that wind up raising prices on everyday goods like coffee."

Later that day, he critiqued the current administration and its focus: "Rather than immediately taking action to lower the cost of groceries and housing, the President and Republicans in Congress have been focused on pushing an extreme agenda that will create chaos, undermine the rule of law, and harm our economic recovery." This tweet was posted on January 27, 2025.

On January 28, 2025, Rep. Cleaver condemned an order he described as illegal: "This blatantly illegal order would withhold federal funding for disaster relief, medical research, nutrition assistance, affordable housing, child care, and so much more. From energy & groceries to housing & healthcare, it will increase costs on American families nationwide."

Cleaver continues to voice his concerns about policies affecting everyday Americans through social media platforms.
