The Independence Fire Department has issued a burn ban for Thursday, February 29, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The ban comes as a precautionary measure due to dry conditions and forecasted high winds.

In a statement, the Independence Fire Department urged the community to take necessary precautions to prevent fires. They emphasized the importance of fire safety measures, stating, "Please help protect yourself and your property by practicing fire safety."

As part of the safety guidelines, residents are advised to properly dispose of smoking materials, fireplace logs, and barbeque charcoal. The department recommended placing these items in a metal container after dousing them with water.

The ban will be in effect for the specified time on February 29 to mitigate the risk of potential fires in the area.
