Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri's 5th district since 2005, has recently shared his thoughts on various pressing issues through social media posts. Cleaver, who succeeded Karen McCarthy and was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944, resides in Kansas City.

On May 21, 2025, Rep. Cleaver expressed concern over political decisions affecting cancer research funding. He stated that "Cancer is not a Democratic or Republican concern—it touches all Americans from every background." He criticized President Trump and Congressional Republicans for allegedly undermining cancer research to finance tax breaks for billionaire donors.

The following day, on May 22, 2025, he conveyed condolences to the bereaved families of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky after their tragic loss. In his message of sympathy, he said "My heart goes out to the family and friends of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky as they face this horrific and traumatic loss."

In another post on the same day, Rep. Cleaver condemned the murder of two Israeli Embassy staffers outside the Capital Jewish Museum. He described the incident as "horrifying, intolerable, and worthy of universal condemnation in the strongest possible terms." He emphasized that antisemitism must be actively opposed in America.

Emanuel Cleaver graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
