Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, who represents Missouri’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several national policy issues through a series of posts on his social media account.

On September 8, 2025, Cleaver highlighted efforts to restore funding for National Heritage Areas, stating: "After the administration froze funding to National Heritage Areas nationwide, @RepDavids & I pushed to restore these investments enacted by Congress, which help to preserve regional history & boost local economies. Happy @ffnha has secured their funding."

Later that day, Cleaver commented on rising electricity prices and energy policy: “Trump vowed to halve electricity prices. But they’re rising twice as fast as inflation.” Cutting investments in renewable energy like wind and solar is decreasing our national supply of energy and raising monthly utility bills for American families.

In another post from September 8, he criticized recent tariff policies: "The president’s reckless tariff taxes are creating chaos for small businesses, driving up prices for consumers, and killing good-paying jobs for American workers. Americans deserve better."

Cleaver has served in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Karen McCarthy. He was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and currently resides in Kansas City. Cleaver earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View A&M University in 1972.
