The following day, March 19, 2025, he criticized the administration's fiscal policies in a tweet: "While President Trump and congressional Republicans focus on another massive tax cut for their billionaire donors, paid for by cuts to programs like Medicaid and SNAP, the president is slashing pay for American workers." He characterized these actions as "Reverse Robin Hood."
Later that same day, Rep. Cleaver addressed housing affordability concerns: "President Trump said he was going to bring prices down on 'Day One.' Instead, his tariff taxes are already exacerbating America’s housing affordability crisis, ensuring families pay more to build or renovate their home."
