In a post at 15:39 UTC, Cleaver stated, "If Republicans are successful in ending ACA tax credits, 383,000 Missourians are at risk of losing their health care and 216,000 face premiums that are more than DOUBLE what they paid this year. Missouri families literally cannot afford this cruelty."
Later that morning at 16:38 UTC, he shared his experience speaking with labor representatives: "It was an honor to speak before the Communications Workers of America this morning to talk about the harmful impacts of the president’s Big Ugly Bill—which rips healthcare away from millions of American workers, kills clean energy jobs, and gives tax breaks to giant corporations."

Emanuel Cleaver has served as a member of Congress representing Missouri’s 5th District since replacing Karen McCarthy in 2005. Born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and currently residing in Kansas City at age 78, Cleaver graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
