Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, who has represented Missouri’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress since 2005, posted a series of statements on September 10, 2025, addressing recent political developments at both state and national levels.

In his first post of the day, Cleaver criticized actions taken by the Missouri House, writing on September 10: "It is deeply disappointing the Missouri House has put the demands of DC power brokers ahead of the wishes of Missouri families in yet another partisan power grab. This battle is far from over—and I won't stop fighting to ensure the voices of KC and Western Missouri are heard."

Later that afternoon, Cleaver addressed federal immigration enforcement and Supreme Court decisions, stating on September 10: "In a moment where the president and ICE are sowing fear in communities across the country, the Supreme Court continues to undermine the civil liberties of American citizens by greenlighting the racial profiling of minorities. It’s dangerous and un-American."

Cleaver also commented on international affairs following reports involving Russia and Ukraine. On September 10 he wrote: "After the president rolled out the red carpet, Putin repays him by bombing Ukrainian civilians & sending drones into NATO airspace. This is a dangerous escalation that must be met with a forceful response from the U.S., including increased sanctions. If the president refuses to"

Emanuel Cleaver was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and currently resides in Kansas City. He graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. Since replacing Karen McCarthy as representative for Missouri's 5th district in 2005, Cleaver has been an active voice on issues affecting both his constituents and broader national policy.
