Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 5th district since 2005, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on September 10, 2025.

In his first post, Cleaver commented on an executive action involving the Federal Reserve Board: "This is a victory for the rule of law. The president’s attempt to remove Dr. Cook from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors is blatantly unconstitutional, undermines economic stability, and must not be allowed to move forward." (September 10, 2025).

Later that day, Cleaver responded to reports of violence against a public figure: "I unequivocally condemn the despicable and cowardly attack on Charlie Kirk. Political violence has absolutely no place in the United States, and the perpetrator must be prosecuted to the fullest extent. Let us all pray for Mr. Kirk and his loved ones in this moment." (September 10, 2025).

Cleaver also addressed gun violence in America: "Gun violence in America is completely out of control. What will it take for our leaders to come together and enact policies that will address this crisis, save lives, and keep our communities safe? As we pray for the victims, let us also ACT. The time is now." (September 10, 2025).

Cleaver has been serving as Missouri’s representative since replacing Karen McCarthy in Congress in 2005. Born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and currently residing in Kansas City at age 78, he graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
