Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 5th district since 2005, shared a series of posts on October 15, 2025, addressing congressional activity, housing policy, and voting rights.

In a post at 16:15 UTC, Cleaver criticized Republican lawmakers for their absence from Congress during an ongoing government shutdown. He stated, "Republicans may be enjoying their 4-week vacation but @HouseDemocrats are showing up to end the Republican shutdown and lower health care costs for American families."

Later, at 17:11 UTC, Cleaver commented on the impact of presidential tariffs on housing costs. He wrote, “It runs counter to the goals of making housing more affordable" "In the end, you’re just going to get fewer homes built.” The president’s tariff taxes are driving up housing costs at a time when families are already struggling.

In a third post at 18:13 UTC, Cleaver emphasized the significance of the Voting Rights Act amid Supreme Court deliberations. He said, "The Voting Rights Act is the bedrock of American democracy, upholding the voting rights of ALL Americans. Today, as the Supreme Court considers a case to destroy the Voting Rights Act, I stood with Americans from across the country in defense of this landmark legislation."

Cleaver, who was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and resides in Kansas City, has been a prominent figure in Congress for two decades. He succeeded Karen McCarthy in 2005 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View A&M University, earned in 1972.
