Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, who has represented Missouri’s 5th District in the U.S. Congress since 2005, used his social media platform on October 14, 2025, to criticize the Trump administration and Republican lawmakers, focusing on their policies and treatment of federal workers and American families.

In a post made at 18:18 UTC, Cleaver wrote, "Instead of working to lower costs and bring people together, the Trump administration and Republicans nationwide are seeking to divide communities and silence the voices of American families. It’s shameful."

Cleaver, who was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and now resides in Kansas City, has a long history of public service. He graduated from Prairie View A&M University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Cleaver succeeded Karen McCarthy in Congress and has consistently advocated for Missouri’s 5th District since taking office in 2005.
