Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, who has represented Missouri’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress since 2005, addressed a range of topics on September 15, 2025, through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

In one post recognizing the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, Cleaver wrote: "Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! All month long, let us celebrate the rich and vibrant culture of our Hispanic communities across #MO05, honoring their legacy and recognizing their invaluable contributions to our history and society." (September 15, 2025)

Cleaver also commented on recent political developments in Missouri: "Last week, Missouri Republicans attempted the latest power grab by enacting a mid-decade gerrymander But this fight is far from over Together, in the courts and in the streets, we will continue pushing to ensure this unconstitutional effort is defeated" (September 15, 2025).

Addressing national economic issues later that day, Cleaver posted about inflation and health care costs: "As inflation soars due to the president’s reckless tariff taxes, Republicans in Congress are refusing to extend tax credits that help working families afford their health insurance premiums. I won’t stop fighting to provide relief to these families." (September 15, 2025).

Emanuel Cleaver was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and currently resides in Kansas City. He graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. Cleaver succeeded Karen McCarthy as representative for Missouri’s 5th district nearly two decades ago.
