Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 5th district since 2005, shared updates on his recent legislative and advocacy efforts through a series of posts on August 14, 2025.

He wrote: "As communities struggle to build more housing & housing costs continue to rise for families, residents in rural Missouri are struggling to stay afloat. That’s why @ZachNunn and I are introducing the bipartisan Rural Housing Service Reform Act to lower costs. https://t.co/qO98hC28vk".

Cleaver’s legislative priorities reflect ongoing challenges in both healthcare and affordable housing across his district, which includes Kansas City and other parts of western Missouri. The congressman was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1944 and has lived in Kansas City for many years. He earned his BS from Prairie View A&M University in 1972 before entering public service.
